Revit Automatic MEP Opening Families Placement

Documenting all pipe/duct intersections with walls could be very challenging. Our client who is MEP engineering firm wants to improve its workflow. They needed to show each wall opening location and schedule its dimensions and count.

For the development of this tool, we needed to extract each wall from the linked architectural model and test it for intersection with the pipes and ducts from the MEP model. At each intersection, we placed the opening family with the correct type – dimensions and shape. 

This allows the end-user to automatically place and schedule openings.
